Khumbu, Nepal - The Khumbu region, home to the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, is experiencing a surge in tourist activity as the weather conditions improve. Over the past week, locals have noticed a bustling atmosphere in the usually tranquil Khumbu area, with foreign tourists forming new friendships.
With the skies clearing up, both tourists and local residents are returning to Lukla Airport, resulting in a notable increase in the number of flights. Kiran Gautam, a senior official at the Civil Aviation Authority of Lukla, reported that Lukla recorded 12 flights on Wednesday, with approximately 200 passengers arriving daily.
While the number of departing passengers from Lukla currently stands at zero, the inflow of tourists is steadily rising, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Lukla.
Today, Tara Airlines conducted 7 flights, Sita Air operated 3 flights, and Summit Air had 2 flights, collectively bringing around 200 passengers to Khumbu. Mr. Gautam pointed out that among these arriving passengers, both foreign and domestic tourists were represented.
In Khumbu, two primary tourist seasons are traditionally observed: September, October ,November and March, April, May. With the improving weather conditions, it appears that tourists are eager to explore the breathtaking beauty of the Khumbu region, which includes not only the awe-inspiring Mount Everest but also a rich cultural and natural landscape.
As tourists and locals alike embrace the positive changes in the region, the Khumbu area is expected to continue attracting visitors seeking adventure and the serenity of this magnificent mountainous region.
