Chumig Jangchub “ Daman “
“Chumig Jangchub” also known as ‘The spring of Enlightenment”, is one of the holy and sacred places of Guru Padmasambhava. It is located in Daman Village (4 hours drive from Kathmandu), a village in the central part of Nepal, at an altitude of 2320 metres, in the district of Makwanpur, 100 kilometres southwest of Kathmandu. He is also know as second buddha and very famous for his tantric buddhism. He is also the founder of tantric buddhism.
The Spring of Awakening or Enlightenment is a very special pilgrimage place. Almost everyone, who has the chance will stop there, drink the water, join their palms and with open eyes wish for the best possible outcome for their lives. The important Guru Padmasambhava describes the Spring of Enlightenment as a place where flowers bloom even in the midst of winter, hinting that our inner source of awakening can unfold the beauty of kindness and insight, even in the midst of confusion. In this way visiting a sacred place forms the auspicious circumstance for awakening our inner timeless qualities.
The Story
Guru Rinpoche gained different spiritual knowledge in Nepal. when he was going to India, Nepal and Tibet from uddiyan. At that time guru Rinpoche found the lack of drinking water in the western from Kathmandu capital of Nepal between daman and simvanjyang at risheshor mahadev.( This place lies 80 km far from Kathmandu).so that guru padmasambhava used his powerful Trident as weapon and stroked on the stone and nectar water was found. It is believed that since that day water is running continuous forever.
