The third 'Ngim Dorjee Sherpa Smriti Gold Cup' competition will be held in Solukhumbu's Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality 5. The third commemorative gold cup was organized in the memory of the first president of the municipality, the late Nim Dorjee Sherpa.
According to the organizer Namche Youth Group, the competition to be held in ward number 5 of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality will start from August 9 and end on August 11.
Youth groups/clubs/wards/schools/community forests within the municipality can participate in the competition, said Lama kaji Sherpa, sports coordinator for Namche Youth Group.
The first place winning team will get A gold cup worth five lakhs along with a medal and a certificate. According to the organizers, the second and third place teams will receive trophies, medals and certificates, respectively, cash of Rs. 60,000 and 40,000.
Organizer Sherpa said that the organization organizing the tournament will buy the same cup for 5 lakh rupees next year. The Gold Cup, which started in 2077, was organized by Ward No. 3 in the first year, Ward No. 4 in the second year, and Ward No. 5 this year.
It is said that 9 players from among the players who performed best in the competition which will be held at the playground in front of Jambala Home, located in Khumbu Pasad Lhamu Village-5 Namche, will be given the opportunity to participate in higher level competitions by appointing a municipality level team.
According to the organizing committee, the team registration should be completed by the 8th of August, and the team registration fee will be 5 thousand rupees.
